Leilani (Lani) Forbes —
Associate

Known affectionately as "Lani" to many, Leilani Forbes is a compassionate and dedicated solicitor at KLM with a strong background in family law, domestic violence, and criminal matters. She holds a dual degree in Law and Environmental Science from Griffith University (2016) and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2017 and the High Court of Australia in 2018.

Lani began her legal career working full-time in her final year of university at a private firm on the Sunshine Coast, where she gained experience in commercial matters including leasing and conveyancing. She then spent four years as a solicitor at a community legal centre in Roma, offering holistic and trauma-informed support to clients across a broad range of matters.

Deeply empathetic and people-focused, Lani prides herself on helping vulnerable clients—particularly women affected by domestic violence—navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives with clarity, care, and respect. Her approach is rooted in sensitivity and practicality, and she is known for making clients feel supported and at ease while maintaining a meticulous attention to detail.

Now based back on the Sunshine Coast, Lani is passionate about collaboration and the strong team environment at KLM. She brings an advocacy style that is down-to-earth, effective, and quietly fierce.

Outside of work, Lani is a nature lover and self-confessed book nerd. She enjoys camping, hiking, beach days, and spending time with her rescue dog Bella. She and her husband spent 15 months travelling around Australia in a caravan—a personal highlight and a testament to her adventurous spirit.
